Undefined variable `FPS` in `code_renderer.py` caused runtime failure when calculating frame counts | Fixed by using instance config property instead of global variable

Issue

The video rendering engine encountered a runtime error (NameError: name 'FPS' is not defined) during frame interpolation calculations. This occurred while adjusting playback speed, where the system attempted to use a globally undefined variable for frame rate calculations, halting video generation.

Culprit

The error stemmed from an incorrect reference to a global FPS variable, which was never declared in the module. The frame rate value should have been accessed through the instance’s configuration system, where video parameters like FPS are stored as properties. This inconsistency violated the codebase’s design pattern for parameter management.

Solution

The fix involved updating the frame calculation logic to access the frame rate from the instance’s configuration object instead of relying on an undefined global variable. This adjustment:

  • Resolved the runtime error by aligning with the codebase’s established pattern for accessing video parameters.
  • Maintained the original frame interpolation logic without modifying the mathematical operations.
  • Ensured consistency with the configuration-driven architecture used throughout the rendering engine.

The change guarantees reliable frame rate access while preserving the intended behavior of playback speed adjustments.
