Automated tutorial video pipeline lacks proper topic isolation in vector databases, leading to cross-topic contamination during script generation for programming libraries.

An AI video generation system relies on a vectorized documentation search pipeline to create tutorial videos. The system uses a vector database for documentation retrieval, a text-to-speech engine for narration, and API integrations for source documentation. However, it fails to isolate documentation by topic, causing two critical issues:

Issue

The system cannot properly isolate documentation sources by topic, leading to:

  1. Cross-topic contamination: When generating scripts for one library (e.g., Pydantic), the system incorrectly searches the vector collection of another library (e.g., FastMCP).
  2. Missing documentation sources: There is no automated workflow to fetch and index topic-specific documentation, including discussions, into dedicated collections.

The problem is observed when attempting to generate topic-specific videos, where the system defaults to an unrelated collection instead of creating or using a topic-specific one.

Culprit

Three root causes contribute to this issue:

  1. Hardcoded logic for collection selection: The system defaults to a predefined collection regardless of the specified topic.

  2. Lack of topic-configuration mapping: No system exists to:

    • Associate topics with specific vector collections.
    • Define documentation sources per topic.
    • Automatically create collections for new topics.
  3. Missing API integration for discussions: The current documentation fetching process only handles main documentation files and lacks integration with discussion forums, which are critical for comprehensive topic coverage.

Solution

Topic-Aware Collection System

A new configuration system would:

  • Map topics to specific vector collections and documentation sources.
  • Automatically create collections for new topics.
  • Enforce strict topic isolation.

Updated Validation Logic

The collection selection logic would be modified to:

  • Accept and use topic parameters.
  • Dynamically create collections for unspecified topics.

Documentation Fetching Enhancements

  • Discussion integration: Use API calls to fetch discussions from forums, ensuring comprehensive documentation sourcing.
  • Sparse documentation cloning: Efficiently fetch only relevant documentation files for each topic.

Pipeline Improvements

  • Topic validation: Ensure the specified topic exists and has valid documentation sources.
  • Performance optimizations: Reduce lookup times and speed up documentation indexing.

This solution ensures complete topic isolation while automating documentation sourcing, eliminating cross-topic contamination, and improving performance.
