A data visualization tool for framework extraction initially included irrelevant technologies such as HTML/CSS, Jest, and Selenium while omitting critical LLM/AI infrastructure tools like FastMCP and vLLM. This led to an inaccurate representation of the tech stack for LLM engineering roles.
Issue
The automated extraction process from 950+ documents included generic web and testing tools while excluding specialized LLM infrastructure tools. For example, FastMCP (3,174 mentions) and vLLM (3,578 mentions) were omitted from the top 10 frameworks, which instead showed generic tools like Python, Redis, and Kubernetes. This made it difficult to showcase expertise in LLM/AI infrastructure.
Culprit
The extraction relied on an overly inclusive regex-based approach that captured all mentions without context filtering. This led to equal weighting of generic tools and specialized LLM frameworks, resulting in a cluttered visualization where critical LLM tools were buried in noise.
Solution
Curated Framework List
The framework list was reduced from 80 to 41 entries by:
- Removing 35 irrelevant entries such as HTML, CSS, Jest, Git, and Selenium.
- Adding 8 critical LLM-focused frameworks like FastMCP, vLLM, and ChromaDB.
Updated Categorization Logic
Frameworks were grouped by their relevance to LLM infrastructure roles, such as AI/ML and cloud computing.
Visualization Improvements
- Updated taglines and legends to emphasize LLM/AI infrastructure.
- Enhanced descriptions to highlight the curated focus on specialized frameworks.
- Added minimum mention thresholds and normalization rules to improve relevance.
Result: The visualization now prominently features FastMCP and vLLM in the top 10 frameworks, accurately reflecting the focus on LLM infrastructure. The updated visualization better represents production LLM engineering work and reduces clutter.
