Required LaTeX packages not installed on Linux causing document compilation failures | Core packages `texlive-core`, `texlive-bin`, and `texlive-latexextra` needed for PDF generation workflows

Issue

LaTeX document compilation failed due to missing essential system packages required for PDF generation. The environment lacked critical TeX Live components, causing errors during the compilation process and preventing successful document builds.

Culprit

The Linux system was missing a LaTeX distribution, which includes fundamental tools like pdflatex, xelatex, and package management utilities. This absence resulted in compilation failures with errors such as ‘command not found’ or missing dependencies for LaTeX packages.

Solution

To resolve the issue, the core LaTeX packages were installed using the system package manager. This included:

  • texlive-core: Provides the foundational LaTeX system with essential packages.
  • texlive-bin: Installs core binaries, such as pdflatex and latex, required for document compilation.
  • texlive-latexextra: Adds additional common LaTeX packages to support extended functionality.

After installation, the LaTeX environment was verified by successfully generating PDFs from LaTeX source files. This ensured that all necessary dependencies for LaTeX processing were available, enabling seamless document compilation.
